What this repairs
- Half-grey or cut-off photos — the file was copied or recovered only partly. Everything that survived is decoded and kept.
- "Invalid image" / "file format not supported" — junk in front of the photo, or a broken header. With a reference photo the header is rebuilt.
- Photos recovered by software that will not open — often only the small preview inside the file survived; we extract it.
When to send it to the lab instead
If many photos on the same card or phone are damaged, the card itself is failing — recovering each copy one by one gets worse results than recovering from the card. Switch the card or phone off and bring it to us. The same goes for photos encrypted by ransomware and RAW camera files.
