Seagate Data Recovery in Pune
Seagate external and internal drives are the second most common brand we see in Pune — Backup Plus, Expansion, One Touch and Basic portable drives, plus Barracuda, SkyHawk and IronWolf disks in desktops, CCTV recorders and NAS boxes. Our lab at Kalewadi Phata recovers data from all of them. Diagnosis is free, the exact price comes before any work, and if no data is recovered you pay nothing.

About Seagate 2.5" portable drives
Most Seagate portable drives contain a thin 2.5" disk, and many recent models use SMR (shingled) recording to fit more data in a slim case. These drives are dropped often, and the most common faults we see are damaged heads and heads stuck to the platters. SMR also means the drive relies heavily on its firmware, so firmware work is often part of the recovery. Do not keep powering on a portable drive that buzzes — forcing it can tear the heads.
IronWolf and SkyHawk drives
NAS and CCTV drives run day and night. When one disk of a NAS fails and a rebuild is attempted, a second weak disk can fail too. Power the NAS off and do not re-initialise it. See server, RAID and NAS recovery.
How we recover Seagate drives
- Free diagnosis to find the fault: heads, firmware, board or logical.
- Exact price and time before any work.
- Clean-room head replacement with matching Seagate donor parts when needed, in our Class 100 certified clean room.
- Safe imaging to a lab drive, then file recovery. You check the files before paying.
DataExpert is an independent lab, not an authorised Seagate service centre; Seagate, Backup Plus and IronWolf are trademarks of Seagate Technology. A warranty replacement gives you a new empty drive — recover your data first.
What to do now
Unplug a clicking or buzzing drive, do not format it, and bring it to our lab or book a free pickup across Pune and PCMC. More on hard disk recovery and what clicking means.
Frequently asked questions
My Seagate external hard disk is clicking. Can you recover it?
Usually yes, if it is switched off quickly. Clicking means damaged heads, which we replace in our clean room using matching donor parts.
My Seagate portable drive buzzes and does not spin. What is wrong?
Usually the heads are stuck to the platter or the motor is seized. Do not keep powering it on; it needs clean-room work.
Do you recover LaCie drives?
Yes. LaCie is a Seagate brand, and we recover LaCie portable and desktop drives too.
Can data be recovered from a Seagate NAS drive?
Yes, including IronWolf drives from Synology, QNAP and other NAS units. Power the NAS off and do not rebuild or re-initialise it.
How much does Seagate data recovery cost?
It depends on the fault and capacity. Diagnosis is free, the exact price comes before any work, and if no data is recovered you pay nothing.
