How to pack a hard disk for courier

Do

Switch the drive off and stop using it. Every power-on can make a failing drive worse.
Put the bare drive in an anti-static bag or a clean plastic zip bag.
Wrap it in 2–3 layers of bubble wrap and place it in a firm cardboard box with padding on all sides, so it cannot move.
For a laptop, you can send only the hard disk/SSD if you know how to remove it, or the whole laptop with its charger.
