VMware & Hyper-V Data Recovery in Pune

A virtual server will not start, a virtual disk is unreadable, or a snapshot chain is incomplete? Preserve the VM files and source storage, then discuss recovery options with DataExpert.

A virtual disk problem can stop an entire office

An accounting server, shared-file server or business application may run inside a virtual machine. When that VM fails, the host computer can still appear healthy while the business loses access to its records. A VM boot error does not by itself prove that the data is gone.

DataExpert in Pune accepts enquiries for VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V recovery assessment. Share the platform and version, the exact error, the affected virtual disks and recent events such as a failed backup, snapshot operation or storage outage.

Virtual machine cases to discuss

  • A VMware VM fails to power on because a disk or its descriptor cannot be found.
  • A VMDK snapshot chain is inconsistent after an interrupted operation.
  • A Hyper-V VM cannot access a VHDX or its AVHDX differencing disks.
  • The VM starts but its Windows or Linux file system cannot be read.
  • A datastore or the underlying RAID/NAS volume is damaged.
  • A VM was deleted and usable backups are unavailable.

These are assessment scenarios, not a promise that every missing file or deleted block can be restored.

Keep the complete disk chain

A virtual server's latest data may be spread across a base disk and snapshot or differencing disks. Copying just the largest file can leave out recent changes. Keep every available parent and child disk, descriptor, VM configuration and log, together with existing backups.

Avoid deleting snapshots, consolidating or merging a damaged chain, recreating a datastore, or changing the VM to use an older base disk as a trial fix. Ask your administrator to preserve the current state and stop further writes to affected storage safely.

What recovery assessment separates

Host storage

Is the physical drive, RAID array or datastore readable enough to preserve the VM files?

Virtual disks

Are disk files and their parent-child chain intact, incomplete or corrupted?

Guest data

Can the file system, documents and application database inside the VM be opened and verified?

Each layer can require separate work. Recovery of files does not automatically restore server configuration, licences or application access.

How a business recovery case is scoped

  1. Case details. Platform, virtual disk sizes, storage layout, snapshots, available backups and previous attempts.
  2. Recovery assessment. Identify the affected layer and preservation requirements.
  3. Quote before work. Agree whether the result is files, a recovered virtual disk or assistance restoring a testable VM.
  4. Verification. Your IT administrator checks the requested data in a separate environment before any production cutover.

Where databases are affected, validation should include the business application, not just a count of recovered files. A recovery copy should never be tested by overwriting the only remaining source.

Pune lab and business enquiries

Contact our Kalewadi Phata lab for Pune and PCMC cases, including offices in Hinjewadi, Baner, Wakad and Bhosari. Tell us whether physical drives can be collected or whether the case needs a discussion with your IT administrator about file transfer.

We quote after assessment rather than promising a fixed fee or deadline for every server. Missing data blocks, damaged storage or unavailable encryption keys can limit the result.

Technical reference

Broadcom documents VMware power-on failures caused by missing disk descriptors and snapshot-chain problems. Different errors require different diagnosis; preserve the original files before attempting changes.

Frequently asked questions

Can data be recovered from a VM that will not boot?

In some cases files can be recovered even if the VM cannot boot. Assessment distinguishes configuration problems, guest file-system damage and failure of the underlying storage.

Should I send only the base VMDK or VHDX file?

Not necessarily. Recent changes may be in snapshot or differencing disks. Preserve the entire VM directory, descriptors, configuration files, logs and all available parent and child disks.

Can a deleted snapshot always be recovered?

No. Recovery depends on whether its blocks still exist and whether the disk chain can be reconstructed. Overwriting, storage reclamation and missing chain members can make some data unrecoverable.

How much does virtual machine recovery cost?

A case-specific quote follows assessment. Cost depends on the virtual disks, snapshots, datastore, storage fault and requested outcome. File recovery and restoring a bootable server are scoped separately.

Can you recover encrypted virtual disks?

Recovery may require the original encryption keys or credentials. Preserve key-management information and discuss it during assessment. We do not promise recovery without the required keys.
